New build 'Castle' project in Altrincham

Our client in Altrincham decided to fulfil a boyhood ambition of living in a castle.

Located In Altrincham the site contained an existing

dwelling that the client had recently purchased, the site nestles in between a number of traditional detached dwellings. The brief called for a fun, bright, traditional ‘castle like’ family home, maximising the space, links to the garden and substantial storage. The result is a building of its time, designed by Hunter Architects & Planners to respond to the site simply and elegantly, whilst minimising the potential overlooking from neighbouring dwellings.

An Englishman's home might be his castle but it's not very often a castle is his home.

We also installed a ground source heat pump, which means the ‘castle’ is fuel efficient and is not reliant on oil. The layout was designed to suit the client, especially the big family kitchen with the Aga. That’s where they intend to spend most of their time.
