News Release

Hussain Architectural Design LTD Have Won in the Architecture

Category at Corporate Vision Magazine’s 2016 Awards

Hussain Architectural Design is delighted to say that they have been awarded the “Small Business Award

2016 in the Architecture category” by Corporate Vision Magazine.

Over the last year, Hussain Architectural Design has been nominated and awarded numerous awards,

showcasing their work within the architecture sector. Highlights from this year include, finalists in the British Muslim Awards, Best Sustainable Design Practice- England in the 2016 Sustainable Building Awards, and Businesswoman of the Year at the Asian Business Association Awards UK, amongst many others.

Corporate Vision is a monthly business publication that is sent out to over 130,000 corporate professionals, including executives; directors and managers, worldwide. We specialise in promoting and showcasing some of the country’s best small businesses, particularly those working in architecture.

Winners are decided by a combination of votes gathered from our network of respected industry partners and our own rigorous in-house research, performed by our dedicated network of industry insiders and corporate specialists. Each award is carefully scrutinised, from a nominee's region to their performance over the past 12 months, their commitment to innovation, their methods and even their competition to ensure that only the most deserving firms walk away with one of our prestigious trophies.

Reacting to the announcement practice manager Saira Hussain said:

‘The hours in Architecture are very anti-social, there is a macho working culture, we’re working on

building sites with 100% male construction workers, the building officers and the majority of clients

are male, we’re not part of the golf club scene and have found it's sometimes hard to get on with

men in the same industry because I was never moving in them business circles. I also found that

the building industry does not accept the authority of a female in construction, you can either

accept that or quit or you can keep working until you prove them wrong. Receiving this award helps

women like myself in the construction industry be recognised and work towards smashing through

the glass ceiling we have. I feel both the image and culture of construction is slowly changing and

as a woman I will continue to work towards fighting for better conditions and more flexible working

policies that allow both men and women with other responsibilities to work within the industry.’

Practice manager, Nixie Edwards also said:

“It’s overwhelming to see passion, time, and effort get noticed and awarded. We’re really proud to

be part of this industry, and love to find architectural solutions to the challenges that our clients

may face.’
